A Unique Continuing Education Retreat

Increase Productivity, reduce cancel / no show rates and prevent Occupational burnout. Twelve (12) Contact Hours

Course Description: Participants will acquire skills to improve customer service, decrease cancel / no show rates, increase patient referrals and ultimately enhance productivity. By learning how to utilize intuition, participants will develop effective interpersonal communication skills and be better prepared to cope with difficult situations and people. The techniques and exercises presented in the class will provide participants with the skills necessary to care for themselves, develop positive thought patterns, and avoid occupational burnout.

Hands-on: This course will follow a progression of principles and reinforce them throughout the 12 hours. At least 80% of the material is presented in a hands-on lab format, including self care manual therapy techniques, small group discussions and individual/group self awareness exercises. This course will also empower participants to learn skills that can be utilized immediately upon their return to the clinic.

Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Develop and implement a daily self care routine to promote wellness, prevent occupational burnout and enhance productivity.
  • Demonstrate self-awareness and superior listening skills to improve customer service.
  • Describe the benefit of utilizing intuition during interpersonal communication with patients and coworkers to decrease cancel/no show rates and increase patient referrals.
  • Empower patients to take responsibility for their healing by focusing on improving self awareness and self-care techniques.

Intended Audience: Healing Through the Art of Caring, Level I is intended for: PTs, PTAs, OTs, OTAs, ATCs, CMPs.

Cost: $400 per person. (12 contact hours) Accommodations are not included, however participants are encouraged to either stay in the Tatoosh Lodge loft (single bed, shared bath) for $50, or choose from a variety of options (and prices) at the Wellspring Spa & Retreat or other local accommodations. Location: Wellspring Spa & Retreat, 54922 Kernahan Rd. E, Ashford, WA 98304 (www.wellspringspa.com) This course will utilize the Tatoosh Lodge and Yurt.

Optional Evening activities: Get into nature: hiking, relaxing, labyrinth, self-reflection, Mt. Rainier National Park Practice body self-care activities. Collaborate and share food/drinks while discussing thoughts and concepts shared from the day.

Instructor: Jillene Lund, PT, OCS, CMP Jillene completed a Bachelors degree in Psychology with a concentration in health psychology and her Masters degree in Physical Therapy from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN. She is currently completing her DPT. With a lifelong passion for holistic healing, she has modified and integrated western and eastern medical theory into her personal life and physical therapy practice to facilitate healing and wellness while maintaining a very productive clinical schedule and avoiding occupational burn out. Jillene is a physical therapist at Apple Physical Therapy in Graham, WA where she has been awarded Physical Therapy All Star (2006), Character Award (2004) and is the only Apple PT employee to have earned the ‘Employee of the Year’ award twice (2005 & 2008). Jillene has earned all individual productivity bonuses, every quarter, since starting with Apple P.T. in 2004. Jillene regularly serves as a clinical instructor for students from St. Scholastica, University of Puget Sound, and Eastern Washington University.

Schedule:
Saturday: Self-Care - Balancing mind, body, and spirit (8 contact hours)
8:30 - 9:00 Registration, light refreshments
9:00 -10:00 Introduction: Importance of balancing mind, body and spirit to combat occupational burnout*
10:00 - 1:00 Developing productive relationships with clients to decrease cancel/no show rates.*
1:00 - 2:00 Lunch, on your own (Local Restaurants or bring a bag lunch)
2:15 – 6:00 Developing effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills to improve customer service and increase patient referrals.*
6:00 Dinner, on your own (Local Restaurants or bring your own)

Sunday: Igniting Intuition (4 contact hours)
Breakfast on your own
8:45 – 9:00 Review of Saturday
9:00 – 11:00 Using Intuition to cope with difficult situations & people*

11:00 – Noon Utilize “Art of Caring” techniques to enhance: healing, job satisfaction and productivity*
Noon - 1:00 Putting the pieces together.
1:00 pm Wrap-up, evaluations, adjourn
